Hi Everyone! I've recently joined the AGS, and wanted to write and say hello to everyone on the gerbil mailing list. I believe you've all sent and received mail to and from Paige from time to time. She's my daughter. Some time ago, to help her with a quarantine problem she was having with her gerbil colony, I "adopted" 3 of her gerbils--Miranda, Leila and Lance. They were quite ill, weak, and it didn't look as if they would survive, so I chose to care for these sick ones and make them comfortable in their last days, in order that Paige could devote her time to the remainder of her healthy gerbils without the worry of passing some ilness on to them . To our great surprise, over a period of weeks, Miranda, Leila and Lance not only survived, but thrived!! They looked better and better as time went on, their coats became sleek, eyes bright, and they got fat and sassy! It became obvious that they were very healthy, fully recovered from their ilness, and so, with Paige's encouragement and help, I decided to procure an additional gerbil and create a breeding pair and a pet pair. Miranda and Lance have since had pups--Paige has been keeping you updated on the progress of this litter--and Leila is paired with Zoe. I'm very new at this gerbil game, and am amazed at Paige's unending font of knowledge. She's my advisor and mentor in all things gerbil related. As a novice, I am extremely thankful for her many contributions in making my little gerbil colony as successful as it has been. I know that a great deal of her knowledge has come from all of you who've helped her over the rough spots, and given her the benefit of your unselfishly shared experience. My thanks to all of you for turning what could have been a sad and sorry end, to a happy and successful beginning! And special thanks to Paige for her patience and tolerance of me, as I fumbled my uncertain way through the morass of gerbil confusion!
