Hi -- I buy my gerbil food pre-made/mixed usually ordered over the internet on one of the big chains (such as Pets.com). I was wondering which brand/type is best for gerbils. The contents are so different from bag to bag, for example the latest two brand I happen to have on hand are: Nutriphase hamster & gerbil formula -- 12 crude protein, 4% crude fat, 10% crude fiber, 12% moisture. Ingredients are: Corn (can they eat whole corn?), milo, white millet, wheat, sunflower, toasted corn flakes, oat groates, dehydrated alfafa meal, dehulled soybeen meal, ground corn, wrinkled peas, ground oats, ground wheat, calcium carbonate, dicalcium phosphate, dried cane molasses, salt, corn oil -- and a variety of vitamins and minerals Premium LM vita-vittles Gold for gerbils (which looks way more appealing from a human eye) -- 15% crude protein, 7% crude fat, 10% crude fiber, 11% moisture. Ingredients are: wheat, sunflower seeds, milo, oat groats, wheat middlings, flaked wheat, dehydrated alfalfa meal, kibbled corn, soybean hulls, toasted corn flakes, soybean meal, shelled peanuts, raisins, ground limestone, fish meal, corn meal, iodized salt, cane molasses, wheat flour, dicalcium phosphate, calcium phoshate, hydroloyzed animal and vegtable fat, soybeen oid, lignin sulfonate, dehydrated carrots, dried aspergillus niger fermentation extract (?), etc, etc, etc. Any good tips on the best (or very good) commercial food to buy? Or commercial food to avoid? Thank you!
