A cat-proof method I've found is a 10 gallon aquarium with a aquarium screen top
and slip in into a bookshelf so that the shelf above the tank is about 1/2 inch
over the tank cover.  (you have to slide the tank in and out to get it off the
shelf) This solution will cost about $20 new.  I'd strongly advise you go out and
get the setup today, because a cat on a hunting mission is relentless -- she will
attack them again.  Donna A.
