I would love to hear everyones >opinion on this one > >===== >GEOCHAMP Magazines need a market, distributing, advertising. For their first few issues, they need to be fully bankrolled until a readership base is established. To put up something comparable to Critters would be prohibitive on the private go. We have this forum, which is electronically distributed, that fills in a lot of the gaps that a printed magazine would. And for someone like me (who has zero magazine subscriptions and buys like three a year in very diverse topic matters) I probably would not buy a printed magazine. Your heart is in the right place George, but I don't think we could sustain a readership AND revenues to put out a magazine. I have helped others in both printed subscription newsletters AND glossy prints; and it is a tough business. Not that there aren't a number of dedicated small animal keepers out there. Since I have not been able to win the lotto, I don't have six figures, nor the time, nor the inclination; to help float a Hamster/Gerbil magazine....and without some very extensive marketing research first, I don't believe one could be sustained. If you feel you have extra time and talent, please, please, please, volunteer to help the American Gerbil Society (AGS). They can always use someone who has time, skills, pictures, and the like. The email address for the forum is : [EMAIL PROTECTED] I suggest you contact: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [Ann-Marie Roberts] first, and discuss with her joining and what you could do to help.
