To take good gerbils pictures I've found you need a good 35mm camera
with a "macro" feature to be able to take zoomed picture at about 18
inches away, this is especially essential for taking pup pictures. You
also need a flash. I don't have a high quality digital camera, so I
don't know about that type of technology.

To take a good gerbil picture put them in an enclose space (like stairs
landing -- yes I know some will scale the stairs so you'll need a second
person to wrangle them). And give them an orienting object such as a
box, they're nest box, a child's toy, a basket and focus in on that.
Good luck, see my web site for lot's of gerbil pictures. People
holding gerbils in hands, arms, shoulders also make great pictures.

A good way to take a picture of a whole clan is to remove the nest box
while focusing the camera in on that corner of the tank. The whole clan
will be glued to the spot for a few minutes.

Good luck, Donna
