around neighborhoods from pesticides, fertilizers, etc.


I have done this, sterilize soil in the oven.  You have to cook it pretty
high for
a pretty long time and the smell is incredible.  Trust me.  You don't want
to
do it. :)

The shredded recycled paper bedding I use, they seem to take great
pleasure in digging through.  The problem in my place with dirt or sand
is that the cats are not always so perfect about litterbox training, so I
have to face the top of all the plants with plastic canvas (I buy a black
kind, it doesn't show) to keep the cats from using it...and a cage like
this would draw too much attention from them.
