before i bought chinchilla dust, i used cornmeal. i find that they eat the
cornmeal while they play in it though, and i also find that the chinchilla
dust i buy has a handfull of sunflower seeds in it to coax them into digging
around and cleaning themselves, but i don't think they need the seeds. i
give them a small ceramic dish of chinchilla dust or cornmeal for 30-45
minutes right before i clean the cages, because it goes EVERYWHERE. a note
on cage cleaning, i normally clean my cages every 2-3 weeks, i use aspen
bedding, and put tp in the cage with them along with some cardboard. within
1 week they have usually gotten everything mixed up and put together, they
rarely change it. i can't wait to get back home to my lil guys!
best regards,
christopher
