Hi all!

Today I went to another petshop, in my area, and they had there 3
brothers, 2 grey, 1 golden agouti I think, from 6 weeks old. The mother
was already gone. I asked the owner some things about gerbils and he
rally knows his thing. He specialises in rodents, handles his animals
dayly,...
Of course I bought those tree funny things! For the moment they are in a
ten gallon aquarium, super-excited, exploring the whole thing. They are
incredibily tame! We called the golden agouti one Jack O'Neill, the
lightest grey is Danil Jackson and the darker grey is Teal'c. (Does
anyone know Stargate?)
I am so happy I finally found the perfect gerbils!

One of the greys is constantly licking my hand. Is this thirst, or is he
just exploring by mouth?
I've seen the others licking other things. In their previous place they
didn't have a water bottle, but a pot with water in it. But this licking
is nearly an half an houre after we bought them, so I don't reckon it's
becoase they are thirsty.

We are trying to connect two ten gallon aquariums, so they have enough
space when they get bigger. Is there anything else I have forgotten to
do? Please tell me!
Thanks for letting me be over-excited!

I have a question: In that shop, they had biological grown hemp-bedding,
without pesticides. Is this good for gerbils? I'm on pine now, I think,
from which I know it's not good for such young animals. I had never
problems with it before, but I don't want to push it.

THANKS
Sarah
