Sharon Kahn's original DEH gerbils didn't have ticking. I believe they're
still described that way in the FAQ. (I really need to revamp the color
section sometime.) However, her description of the Nutmegs states that
they do eventually lose most of their ticking, and with the few that we
had, their color did seem to "even out" as they got older.
However, that was older gerbils, not 14 week olds.
