Wheels

Hi,  I was wondering if wheels are really necessary for gerbs. Every time I out one in/on a cage they just fill it up with wood chips. I have one that is a SAM wheel and it attaches to the outside of the cage like the tubes attach. It is like  another room, but all they do is stuff it totally full of chips. I have also used the meal kind that just sits in the cage. With those they pile the chips up around it and then fill it up with them. It becomes a big mountain. When I was younger and we had gerbs we never even put a wheel in the cage. And it seems like since I always have my gerbs in pairs they get enough exercise from just running and playing together.   Jocie Kessinger
