hello Stephan !

when I take a gerbil out I like putting him on my shoulder , they seem to
enjoy it .
letting the gerbils run on the sofa can be very fun , but I am afraid that
the other family member would never agreed to that .
as you know , gerbils can be very messy .. with what they can leave around
;)

> I'm also worried cos they might hurt themselves jumping down.

I dont think it is dangerous - gerbils are very good jumpers . and another
thing is that they usually jump only after checking it is safe (they dont
jump immediately and before checking all the options )

>What do you all generally let your gerbs do when they are out of their
cage?

... when I do have a little free time what I really like to do is close
the door of my bedroom take out any valuable stuff that the gerbils might
gnaw and just put them on the floor .. the rest they do alone .
they run ,play and sniff and sometimes find all kinds of "treats" that I
left them on the floor . lots of fun !!

> How long do you normally take them out for?

it usually a matter of an hour or so , because after they are loose it is
very tricky to catch them again .
that is why I do it only when I have some free time ( usually on weekends )
.

> Thanks
with pleasure !!!

hila.
