well, as for if my gerbies are in the same cage, yes they are. since I got
them form two different pet stores had to introduce them. I think, judging
from their sizes (and I could be wrong) when I got them I think the lilac
male was about 5-7 weeks old and the female was about 6-9 weeks old. They
get along just beautifully now.
I keep them on aspen bedding. I did alot of reading on the net before I got
them, since it had been a while since I'd had my own, and since most
everyone's site I read recommended aspen over pine or cedar, I decided why
tempt fate? Even though the two I had back them didn't seem to have any
problems with the cedar or pine . . . why take chances. And I guess it's a
good thing too since poor Tina is so sensitive.
I know it isn't the bedding affecting her nose. I checked her out last
night and her nose is looking so much better now. I guess she's just really
sensitive to anything with dyes in it. The chew toys that seemed to affect
her were colored. Their other wooden chew toy isn't dyed and she seems to
be fine with it. And Kibble, the male, doesn't seem to be bothered at all.
go figure!
Oh and just for info sake, I'm in The North Cantral Texas area. around
Dallas-Fort Worth.
we're going to be getting a shelving system set up in January. I haven't
seen any evidence of Tina expecting pups, but I am certain that she's a girl
and Kibble's a boy. I don't rely on just pet store clerks. I am fairly
decent at sexing gerbils and I know mine are definitely a male female pair.
I guess I'll just have to be patient and wait.
I guess, if anyone lives in this area, and has pups I'd be interested in
knowing what colors. I'd love to get a yellow fox. not to breed
neccessarily. I just like the color. :)
