I find it to be more an issue of individual gerbil than in gender (at
least in my gerbils):
I have a tank of four boys and a tank of three females. One in each
tank is more active than the rest. All that said my girls make better
use of the space than my boys -- they seem more bold, not just more
active -- I think the boys may go-nuts more after I go to bed. Just one
data point to consider.
