All very true. However, I have known male gerbils "accidentally"
co-habit with wild mice that broke into their cage. The male was living
alone and the mice came in to steal food, found they were welcome, and
enjoyed being kept warm and cared for by them ale. The didn't seem to
want o leave!
Male gerbils seem to treat them like pups of the same size. Females on
the other hand have been known to kill mice.
