<< Do your female gerbils seem more bold and eager to get
out than your males?
I have several females that will climb up my arm or
hang onto the side to get out when I take off the tank
top.
I don't have any males that do this. (Although they
come over and sniff my hand and once I scoop them up
they seem happy to be out).

Hi Donna and GML,
My female gerbils are definitely more aggressive and try to get out more.
They jump like mad and will take the opportunity to hop up to the edge of the
tank to get out while I have the cover off. The males are more laid back and
calmer in general. I'd also like to know if others see these differences in
the genders.
