well, the babies in this litter are just now getting
to be seven days old, and I was in for a surprise when
I checked on them today. It seems that instead of
doves and a black like I assumed . . . 3 of them are
golden colored. I'm thinking argente cream. which
would make my Tina AaPpc(h)c(h) after all. I don't
know for certain but I think the black MAY end up
being an agouti, but I guess we'll just have to wait a
few days and see.

I am just shocked. well, this teaches me one thing.
You can't assume a gerbil's genes after only one
litter. :) I almost wish I hadn't had to separate
Miss Tina and Kibble just to see if there would be any
other surprises in later litters. But . . . simple
curiousity is just not a good excuse for breeding.

At this point I am tentatively thinking there are
three boys and two girls. I'm really hoping for three
boys. which leads me to the question I wanted to ask.

(I know that everything I've heard says not to
introduce groups, and I won't if it seems it will be
dangerous, but I wanted to ask anyway) I currently
have two males in one cage together. They are the
daddy and son from the first litter. By the time the
boys from the second litter are weaned (provided they
are boys) their older brother will be 10 weeks old and
their daddy will be almost 6 months old. would it be
too much of a stress to put the younger ones together
with older brother and daddy? I want to ask because I
don't want to do something that might end up in
fighting . . . but if I could keep the boys all
together in one tank (I have a 20gal long that I would
use IF this would work) it would be helpful. *shrug*
figured it couldn't hurt to ask advice.

I am still in awe. I had given up on having any
argentes at all. I am just surprised.

Well, I'll keep everyone posted. Take care.

RW
