Hi All
You were all kind enough to give me advice on how to deal with my 3 gerbils
when I major fight broke out last week. To all who gave advice, thank you.
Mandy and Molly are in the original tank, Milly (ex alpha gerbils and the
agressor) has a new tank on her own.
She hates being alone. If she is not throwing herself at the lid, she is
sitting staring at the world with no interest. I have made a point of
having her out for floortime at least every other day. She immediately
heads to the old tank and spends a large part of her time watching the other
two and trying to climb onto the tank to get back in. I am now resigned to
the fact that she will not be able to go back with them, but I was wondering
- a friend of mine who owns rats told me about how to introduce strangers to
each other you can put them together in the bath (as neutral territory) and
see how they get on. I was wondering if this is worth a try with my girls?
I am not trying to get them back together, but give Milly a chance to
interact (under strict control and supervision) with her sisters.
Is this worth a shot or am I going to end up with more injuries?
On the injury front by the way, Mandy had a gash in her belly which has now
healed nicely, Molly sustained no injuries, but has been very jumpy. Milly
has lost a claw on her front right paw. I cannot work out if she has just
broken the claw off or has had the end of her finger bitten off. She seems
OK with it, is using both front paws fine.
Will it eventually grow back?
Thanks in advance
Much calmer mother of Milly, Molly and Mandy
