Take a warm damp cloth or paper towel and wipe the eye off a little. I have
a veterinary eye ointment I have used for eye irritations like you've
described, although I know others on the list have used a thin coat of
triple anti-biotic ointment without any problems, if you don't have access
to one specifically for animals. Put a thin coat of ointment on the eye 2-3
times/day. If you don't see any improvement in 2 days, I would consult a
vet familiar with gerbils- there may be damage to the cornea or debris
under the lid.
