Subject: is this usual?
hi again just an update and a couple of
questions ....
Blanche's two pups are doing very well and are
starting to show some fur. according to gercalc I could expect both
golden agouti and grey agouti from this pairing and it seems that I have one
of each!
Shy (definitely female!!) had four pups on
Thursday in the same nest as Blanche and they seem to be getting on very well.
I have observed both of them looking after the others pups.
Questions:
everything I have read and the advice given to me
by the list members (thank you for that) says that I shouldn't have two
females together! (for breeding) They seem to be getting on just fine should I
leave them together?
I wouldn't risk it. If it goes
wrong the consequences can be horrible.
shy and blanche are not related in
anyway....indeed they were introduced to each other when blanche was a few
weeks old and shy was fully grown (shy and bob (the male) where purchased as
fully grown (bob is enormous) and I suspect that they are either littermates
or father and daughter. should I be breeding from them?
please see my previous mail to the list for a
description of their gerbilarium.
