Hi Lisa,
I have a silver nutmeg too, and based on his coloring,
other sn gerbs I've seen, and pics on the Net, there
is a good degree of variation between silver nutmegs.
Mine has a grayish streak from the tip of his nose,
along his back, to the tip of his tail that gets a bit
darker everyday, it seems. You can still see the
white mixed in though. His belly is still more or
less white, though the gray is spreading a little down
there. He was creamy white as a pup, with a smudge of
pale honey color on his head. We thought he might be
a champagne at first, then did our homework. Alas, I
don't know what his parents were, though his brother
is a DEH.
My sn is about 9 weeks old and still molting, so maybe
yours are still only at the beginning of the molting
process and they have a ways to go.
I don't know anything about polar foxes though, but
just thought I would share my bit of sn wisdom. :)
