Yes, they often eat dead babies.  After all, in the wild there's nobody
to take care of the problem but themselves!  I've found dead ones before
they were touched, and I've had some just disappear.  It's fairly rare
for them to eat live babies, though.  I wouldn't be concerned at this
point as litters of only two don't usually survive anyway, if I remember
right.
