My gerbil had a scent gland tumour and as there are no vets in my area who
deal with animals she lived for a year with it. In the last eight months
her stomach would 'seep' and the tiny peices of wood shavings would get
stuck in her belly. I switched her to completely hay bedding, I am allergic
to it, so I just took her out of my bedroom. She was fine in it, and chewed
it and nested in it just as she usually would. She lived to almost 5, she
died a few weeks ago but had been in the hay since August.
