Most of the time schools will thank you and tell you
no thanks. I have done 'gerbils and hamsters in the
classroom' but it takes lots of advance notice as
some kids have allergies and it needs clearing with
everyone that someone won't get sick first.

Veternarians. Some keep 'breeder lists' so as to
be able to refer people that want an animal.
Feed shops. A serious feed shop near me, has
an 'adoption board' that he will allow people to post
notices about animals for placement (sale or giveaway).
Adoption fairs. Some pet stores have a weekend
day or days where one can bring in animals that need
a new home, and as long as it has had a vet visit and
any required shots are up to date, you can participate.
Some are giveaway, some are for sale.
Bulletin boards at grocery stores and the like. Make
sure to make the rip-off tags have both phone # and
what it's about on them.
