OH DEAR. I THOUGHT MY GERBIL WAS A MALE UNTIL SHE GAVE
BIRTH. BUT TO MY SURPRISE ONE DAY I FOUND BLOOD ON HER
PAWS. THE BABY DIED. I'M NOT SURE IF MY
GERBIL (THE MOTHER) KILLED THE BABY. I HAVE HEARD THAT
WHEN A GERBIL GIVES BIRTH YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO SEPERATE
THEM FROM THEIR FATHER. CAUSE IF NOT HE'LL
KILL THEM. BUT NOW MY GERBIL GAVE BIRTH AGAIN BUT SHE
DOESN'T TREAT IT LIKE HER BABY. SHE BITES IT AND
THROWS IT ACROOS HER CAGE. IS IT POSSIBLE
SHE DOES THIS CAUSE MY SMELL IS ON THE BABY? BECAUSE I
PICKED IT UP AFTER I SAW HOW SHE TREATED HER BABY.
SURPRISINGLY THE FATHER DOES NOT TREAT THE BABY
WRONG. HELP I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. THANKS FOR YOUR
LISTENING AND HELP.

The biting you see might be the mother cleaning the
baby and simulating it to go to the bathroom. The
throwing the baby, might be from digging in the nest
and the babies get thrown. If you add extra litter and
tissues the nest will get deeper, keeping babies in.
Gerbil mothers can appear to be rough, this is normal.
Gerbil fathers help care for babies.
