When I came home from work this evening I found only
six (of seven) pups in the nest. (They are 5 days
old). After some searching I found the last one in
the other corner on the same side of the tank. He was
very cool and still, but alive.

I warmed him up a little, then put him into the nest
with just one other pup, removing the other five just
for about 20 minutes so he could nurse (I hoped).
(This pair is very comfortable with me and are relaxed
parents.)

Then I put the others back in the nest.

Is there any possibility this one might have wandered
from the nest or that the parents "forgot" him? Can
this ever happen with big litters?

Or is this more likely a sign that he is not okay and
is "kicked out" of the nest?

Should I intervene more intensively (with KMR feeding
and or warming the tank) or just leave the parents
alone?

Thanks for any advice here,
Donna
