Because of the Food and Mouth epidemic is the Knagerfestijn cancelled!
I'm terribly sorry to inform you all that the Knagerfestijn is cancelled
this year.
The Open Air Museum in Arnhem has decided, after a staff meeting. that all
the events with animals for the year 2001 are best to be cancelled because
of the Food and Mouth epidemic. A decision that we from the Knagerfestijn
are totally supporting!
We are however being taken into the new programs for 2002, that's good news
for us, so all the work and trouble of the Open Air Museum and of the
Knagerfestijn this year wasn't for nothing after all.
A big group of showers are coming from abroad, we already had entrees from
England, Sweden, Finland, Germany, France and of course Belgium. You can't
get any dairy products across the borders, so we'd better not try it with
suitcases filled with cages with rodents.
If half of the visitors and entrees are foreigners, which is the case with
the Knagerfestijn, we couldn't pull it of even if we tried our utmost!
The Knagerfestijn has become THE meeting point since the past few years for
everybody from Holland and abroad who put his heart and soul in this
beautiful hobby.
We sure want to keep it that way, and maybe grow to an even bigger
international spectacle than it already is nowadays. And all we need from
you is keep supporting us and keep coming as an entrée to our
Knagerfestijn!

I.v.m. MKZ virus is het Knagerfestijn afgelast!
Het doet me pijn je te moeten vertellen, dat het Knagerfestijn is afgelast.
Het Openluchtmuseum Arnhem heeft, na een stafvergadering, besloten alle
evenementen met dieren voor 2001 te schrappen. een beslissing waar het
Knagerfestijn achter staat. Wel zijn we opgenomen in de agenda voor 2002,
dat is weer heel goed nieuws, dan is al het werk en moeite van het
Openluchtmuseum en het Knagerfestijn, niet vergeefs geweest.
De grootste groep inzenders komen uit het buitenland, we hadden al
inzendingen uit Engeland, Zweden, Finland, Duitsland, Frankrijk en
natuurlijk België. Je kunt nog geen broodje kaas over de grens meenemen,
laat staan een koffer met knaagdieren. Als meer dan de helft inzenders en
bezoekers uit het buitenland komt, kun je op je Hollandse klompen wel
aanvoelen dat alles bij de grens tegen gehouden wordt.
Heel erg spijtig allemaal.
Ik ben al zo blij dat ze geen huisdieren, als kippen en knagers preventief
ruimen. Ik heb medelijden met de boeren . . .
Dat er onkosten zijn gemaakt is duidelijk, dat je ze nergens kunt verhalen
is een strop voor het Knagerfestijn. We willen volgend jaar er een groot
feest van maken, we hebben namelijk nog wat tegoed!
