Greetings List,

Thank you very much for the kind words at the loss of my poor
Fuschi ;(. It is comforting (if sad) to know that we all seem to have
sad tales of tragedy from the beginnings of our keeping of gerbils. I
am still "should have"ing, I know, but she will not be forgotten.

I went to see her breeder today - and I told her what happened.
She showed me Fuschi's parents and paternal grandparents!
Fuschi's parents are both spotted slates (I am fair certain) not
blacks/agouti as I believed. AND the male's parents are a spotted
slate and a spotted nutmeg! The litter before Fuschi was spotted
(very pale) golden nutmeg and spotted dove(?)...very pale grayish
and white. Lovely. And a spotted slates and a solid slate.

Fushi's mom is pregnant again and I am waiting to see if there is
another dark beauty like her. I cannot replace her, but she was so
lovely I don't want to lose her forever either. So...if I am not far off
on my colour combos - what am I looking at for genetics on the
babe?

Thanks for the comfort and the diversion :)

With a sad smile,
Deborah
