This is what I always do. I got tired of them turning the bowls over,
chewing them up, knocking them around, and just generally using them for
toys. The food didn't stay in so I didn't see the point. I usually put
a scoop of food right by their nest as that area is generally the
cleanest in the tank. They don't seem to go to the bathroom right by
their nests, anyway.
