Yes, although they can be Cc[b] or Cc[h]. They can also be EE or Ee.

If they were they would have pink eyes instead of Ruby.


There are loads of ways of getting REW, including aac[b]c[b]E-G-pp. Any
combination of diluting genes that does not remove all colour from the
eyes.

REW describes a colour. Separator describes a genotype. The two look the
same but will not always have the same genes.

A separator was bred so it could be bred to any other gerbil and reveal
from the offspring any recessives that gerbil was carrying.

I have never known any problems with REW, but as there are so many
genotypes, there could be problems with some combinations.
