Subject: Re: White Spotting- genetic question
When you combine spot with spot, IF the pups get both spotted
genes it is lethal, which means that the pups don't develop in
the womb and are resorbed. You won't see an sp x sp pup born.
The reason to breed spot to non-spot is to prevent the 1/4 to
1/2 of the pups not developing. Due to the genetic 'crapshoot',
an sp x sp pair may produce viable young, or they may seem
to never have a litter because of the above.
