Hi all,

I came across something that is uneasy tonight, as I was feeding, handling, and checking my gang over. A little 2 week old pup, who has a bare lower back. The skin is slightly red, not sure if its irritated or not.

My concerns are 1.) he is fostered with the mother with 2 mice pups, an almost 4 week old pup. The mice, would often like chew on him, almost like they were tasting him. This was when he was first placed with them. The mice were roughly 2 weeks old. Could this be a result of this?

2.) Although the mice and 4 week old pup are fine, is it something that could possibly be passed on to the other gerbils?

3.) could it just be some kind of irration? Like a rash or something?

He was not like this yesterday so this is sudden.

So where do I go from here with this little one?  Should I take the precautions and separate the cage from the others? I just have never seen anything like this, likewise never recall reading anything about it.

Thanks!
Sarah
