Crystal, Felix and the babies seem to be fine about the whole sprying for
mites business, but Speedy and Snowflake are pretty miffed. They take off in
a mad dash when I open the lid. I have been going back to step one on taming
them. So far no one is scratching and I don't see any mites in general, but
I will keep a sharp eye out and see if I need to do them again. I am so
reluctant to do so since it really ticks the gerbils off. A couple of the
babies made me nervous because they curled up in a ball and didn't move much
after I sprayed them, but Crystal went over and huddled them all up and they
were fine. So far no chest clicking in the first two weeks. I guess from now
on is the time to really listen. The babies are getting so big crystal as to
pretty much lay on her back and let them sit on her to nurse. she still has
all seven. Is there anything I need to do food wise while they start to
wean? Is the seed mix ok or is there a gerbil pup food I should have in
there for them? Crystals babies all have furred in wild agouti which makes
me think that Felix was the pop since she is cream argente and he is wild
agouti. Speedy's two surviving are one pied/spotted black and white and one
pink eyed white so snow flake must be the dad since Speedy is gray agouti
and snow flake is pink eyed white. That is the breeding pairs they are in
now.
