Yes, this would be the best thing. Their mom would not get
enough mammary stimulation to sustain milk production with just two pups to
nurse.
Just be sure to rub down the new pups with litter from the
foster mom's nest, as well your own hands. Don't handle any strong chemicals or
other odorous stuff prior to handling the pups!! Washing of the hands with mild
soap should not interfere with scenting the pups with the foster mom's
litter.

My oldest female
gerbil gave birth to 2 pups today. I didn't even know she was pregnant
this time! I think it may be good to have her adult daughter, who
currently has 5 one week old pups, foster these 2 pups. Would this be
best? I know this has been discussed before, but I want to make sure
I'd be doing the right thing. BTW, these are the 2 females that gave
birth on the same day in past months (and on 2 separate occasions!).
