I heard that if you raise the gerbils from childhood in a tank with dirt to similate
their natural environment, then they'd dig in the dirt and wouldn't develop
stereotypical digging. My two male gerbils also dig furiously in the corners and
sides of the cage. They also dig in their coffee cans and flower pot. Do you keep
your males and females in different environments?
