Hi Keon (How do you pronounce your name?),

Personally, I'd recommend not to use this type of cage. Although it looks fancy and
cool (have you seen the newer space station one yet?), here are the problems:

1. it's plastic -- gerbils will chew through it sooner or later, and it'll be all
scratched up in no time.
2. it's rather small -- looks big, but not space-efficient
3. the maze part is too flat -- good for hamsters, but gerbils are bigger and likes
to stand up
4. it'll smell up really quick
5. it's hard to clean effectively
6. it's expensive -- not only when you first buy it, but to keep replacing pieces as
they're destroyed.
7. it's easier to damage by accident.

These cages really are more suitable for hamsters than gerbils, and even hamsters
still face most of the problems I listed above. I considered it too, but then sat
back and really thought about what was the best value for my money in the longer run
and what was better for the gerbils.

Now I have a large 3-level cage (biggest retail one I could find locally) and a 25
gallon tank. I have two gerbils in each. The cage's 2nd and 3rd level I weaved
plastic through the wires so their feet wouldn't fall through. The only problems are
that I have to replace the 2nd level's plastic periodically as they stand up on the
ground floor and chew on it from below, and they always kick bedding out the first day
after I clean the cage. Thus I also put two of those vinyl things you put on top of
carpets under their cage (just easier to sweep than vacuum all the time). The tank
I'm going to add a homemade 2nd level to it so they'd have more floor space.
