Dove or Lilac?

Hi all,
    I heard the difference between dove and lilac is that lilac has red eyes
and doves have black. I seen a pic of a lilac gerbil on the Gerbil Color
Pallette and it showed it darker and dove with red eyes light. I am soo
confused. I thoght I had lilac, but now think it is dove. Can you all help?
