I don't know about the milk. My natural assumption would be: they
don't go up and suck on cows teets in the wild do they? Then I don't
think they would need such a thing in captivity. Though eggs do sound
like a good idea for nursing or to be mothers. :)
Other question (this is more of a curiosity thing) comes from something I
just read online. It says that "Adult male gerbils are highly territorial
creatures," and while I know males of any species are generally territorial,
I thought it was more the female gerbils that were territorial?
As far as adult males being territorial? I'd like to know what
web page you found this information on, as I'd like to see it myself.
Just from the little first hand experience I have, and the stories I
have read from this list, females are MUCH more dominant and
territorial than males. This is not to say that male gerbils never
show these traits, it's just in comparison to the female of the
species. Perhaps they were referring, in some odd way, to just a male
gerbil clan, where there would be a certain hierarchy to things?
*shrugs*
