It's difficult trying to get the bit that seems to want to stick to the end.   I use a rubbermaid dustpan to scoop out used bedding from all my small animal tanks, which does a nice job of the corners. I don't have any problems using this method, you just have to be careful you don't "overscoop" and let bedding tip out onto the floor if you don't like vacuuming/sweeping :) I usually rinse it under hot water between cages.
