They will only be a breeding pair if you MAKE them a breeding pair. :)
Unless you have some serious reason for pairing up the brother and
sister (as in a certain coat color, temperament, etc) there should be
no need to have them breed. There are PLENTY of other gerbils
available out there. Depending on the health of your female (what
ever you find out when you go to the vets) it would probably be wiser
to find another female to pair up with the male, and find a suitable
girl partner for your runt so that she won't live a lonely life. Just
make sure to introduce the new pairs correctly!
And just if you're wondering, breaking up a pair at 2 months won't
hurt anything. In fact, the sooner you decided what to do with the
gerbils you have, the better. I've heard that the older the gerbils
the longer and harder it can be to get them to accept a new mate. Of
course, this also depends on the temperament of the gerbils you have.
