I think it would be easier and cheeper to just buy a tank, unless you
were planning somethign HUGE. In that case, I'd probably use the glue but
support it with a wooden frame at all the edges and also in the middle,
especially on the bottom. Be sure the wood is on the outside or they will
chew it and urinate on it and you can't get that out.

As I recently posted, I have made tanks. It is a difficult
job and inherently dangerous because of the nature of
glass in general...plus the silicone is noxious....

It's best to buy a readymade tank than try to make your
own. I have made tanks over a hundred gallons (378L)
but they were of very thick glass, carefully reinforced
during the construction and otherwise are very heavy,
awkward, and not for the gerbil keeper.

The tanks I have made are 'frameless' as it is very
easy to break a larger tank if the frame isn't perfect..
a tiny stress point causes fracturing once the load
is put on (sometimes just setting the tank on it's
stand will cause it to break).

>From professionally handling glass and knowing how
to do it safely, and having the tools and equipment to
do so...from having made tanks...

Buy a ready made one. Don't start from scratch.
