If you photograph your gerbils in natural light (with
or without flash) you get much truer colors.
But...if you want to catch something cute they are
doing at the moment, you can use a flash. Just focus
the camera on the center of the tank, but then move
the camera so that when you take the picture the tank
is located at the top or bottom (not center) of the
frame.

can see just a hint of the glare at the very top).
