I'm just a touch worried. Though Einstein has yet showed no malice
toward his pups, he doesn't seem to show much interest either. I'm
hoping it has something to do with the fact that his nose has gotten
worse again (happened before the pups were born, so it's not stress
from that), but I'm not so sure.

When Trinity does take a break from feeding the pups, he's very
interested in being with her and grooming her, but when it comes to
taking his turn keeping the pups warm, he sleeps as far from them as
possible. Is it just possible he's not the best gerbil father in the
world, or is there something more subtile going on that I should be
looking for?

I can't say that he's not being a father at all, for yesterday when I
was making a head count, he had one with him, and when I moved my
hand to check on the pup, he gave me a warning nip. I let things be,
and the pups were all piled together in a little bit by Trinity. Once
I have also seen him take interest in a solitary pup when it did not
let go of mama in time, and was dragged out of the nest. Again, all
he did was sort of hover around the pup until Trinity came around to
move it back to the nest.

I check on them rather often, and have never caught Einstein with the
pups. He also seems to be sleeping an awful lot - again, could this
be because of his nose? He eats fine and otherwise seems rather
healthy.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
