Hello,
I came across a new phenomenon with my two-month-old female gerbil a few days ago. I
have had her for a week now. So anyway, one day when I put my hand in the terrarium,
she came to smell my hand as usual, but then, instead of running off to do her things,
she started to lick my finger. When I lifted my hand just a bit she just didn't want
to stop the licking but grabbed the finger with her front paws and didn't want to let
go and stop licking. At first I thought that she must be thirsty, so I put a drop of
water on one of my fingers, but she wasn't interested in that but only the dry
fingers. Her sister that is together with her in the same terrarium hasn't done
anything like this. Can anyone tell me why she does that and whether it's a sign of
something missing from her diet or something like that? Although it's cute in a way,
I'm rather worried... Thanks for you help.
