If you don't know of "g" in the background, he's
probably black. I have two black gerbils with cb and
they look a bit more on the black/dark chocolate side
and have brown toenails.
I had a litter including one was spotted black, one
spotted slate. You can see them grow up on this page
(the AGS color strip, slate page) and see how black
and slate look different. Slate is a deep grey.
