I didn't get a chance to look at the pictures, but from the way you describe him, maybe he is a Spotted Sapphire, rather than either dove or lilac. ~Lanie~ Date: Tue, 4 Sep 2001 07:59:37 -0700 From: Spice Gerbil <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: What color is my gerbil? MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Someone suggested Sage may be spotted lilac rather than spotted dove. I suppose this is possible, but he is So light really , and I am taking the photos with flash off and using Enhance on Photo Suite 3 so that he does not appear as white as he does when I use flash. From the color sites I have seen, lilac is quite a bit darker than my gerbil actually looks in person. The photos on the first page of my site are a bit darker than he really looks. A couple of the photos on these pages come closer to his actual color. http://www.geocities.com/spicegerbil_007/spicegerbs2.html http://www.geocities.com/spicegerbil_007/spicegerbs3.html the closest ones below... http://www.geocities.com/spicegerbil_007/sage_train.jpg http://www.geocities.com/spicegerbil_007/sagenap.jpg and one with flash, a bit brighter than his real color... http://www.geocities.com/spicegerbil_007/Mvc-002f.jpg In the photos of Lilac on The Gerbils Color Palette Sage looks more like the gerbil behind the lilac than the lilac. In fact almost exactly like the one in back. Of course if the spotting gene has that much of a lightning effect perhaps his color is called Lilac even though he appears dove? Or is it possible that he is saphire? I am still trying very hard to learn all of this and I just want to be certain I have his color correct. So I am asking for as many opinions as possible and I suppose maybe go with the majority? What does everyone think think? Jade
