Skittles does this all the time......she has thrown herself out of the wheel
more than once (we also
have the habitrail wheel like you) Foxy would do the same if he wasent such
a big gerbil! I have never
had any of our gerbils get hurt........

Subject: Crazy Olimpics

Hello All,
Just wanted to know your oppinion:

One of my gerbils, Buffy, runs like crazy on her exercise wheel. She never
liked the hamster wheel and we got her the Habbitrail one that sticks to the
glass cage. About 9 PM every night she gets on it and starts running withou
any control. OTher gerbils I have run OK, some run fast, but in a controled
way. Buffy, on the other hand, gets to increadable speeds and sometimes
even makes 360.
At first we though it was a way for her to get "high" - maybe her body
develops something like adrenalin (Spelling?) and it makes her feel good,
but now I am afraid she'll hirt herself doing the 360 spins the way she
goes.
I can't take the wheel away - Buffy's girl's need some exercise too. Do you
think there is a reason for concern? Anybody's gerbils done this sort of
thing?
It is sort of amusing see all of them (3 cages in my room and 1 double cage
with 3 wheels next door) doing their nightly specials on the wheel. We have
to take the wheels away from Buffy's cage and from Fath's cage - otherwise
we can't sleep at night. I don't think this would affect Buffy? We've been
doing this for some time now (2 weeks maybe).
Thanks for all your responces.
Lana
