Thanks to a local breeder, I got my new little gerbils yesterday. The pair is a colorpoint grey agouti female and a siamese male, and they are as cute and sweet as they can be. At the moment, they are unnamed. Hopefully I'll think of names (or they will tell me <g>) soon ... I've missed having gerbil babies, although I haven't been "baby-less" -- in my gerbil breeding break I turned to mice and have bred several litters of them, and the most recent litter of babies is a dwarf hamster litter of 6 - my first litter of dwarf hamsters. But unlike gerbils, the mice and hamsters are likely to cannibalize/abandon their litters with too early handling ... and I've missed being able to really take part in handling the youngsters without worry. I guess it's time for a re-intro. I used to be active on this list, with my clan being "Second Chance Clan." With the rehoming of my gerbils about a year and a half ago because of many seizures in the pups, I dropped the name, and now "renamed" my furry family E & K's Critters. I think that fits better ... my name is Emily and my dog's name is Kelly (who enjoys watching the animals, thus I think as the rodents as part hers for her enjoyment as well as mine). As I mentioned above, I've branched out in the last 1 1/2 years with different animals ... my furry family includes 7 female rats, several mice, several dwarf hamsters, 2 Syrian hamsters, 3 Bushy-tailed jirds, as well as my gerbils - 2 9-month old brothers (dove spot and lilac DPP) plus my new gerbil youngsters, who are about 5 weeks old. And except for one little dwarf hamster, all of the furry "kids" are tame and used to being handled and played with (or are getting that way). And last but not least, is Kelly, my American Eskimo dog. Well, before this gets any longer, I'd better end it here. Emily
