Some minor good news, not meant to underscore the human devastation. I do not know one New Yorker who doesn't know someone directly hurt by this tragedy.

(New York, NY) September 15, 2001 -- The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) reports that as of 12pm Saturday, September 15, 2001 over 100 animals including cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs and ferrets have received medical care from veterinarians at the ASPCA mobile veterinary unit. These animals were rescued from homes that had been evacuated following the World Trade Center disaster. Animals are being treated primarily for shock, dehydration, and respiratory distress.

Peace to all,
Kathleen
