It all turned out OK. Raichu managed to pull through. She had 1 stillborn, and 2 more living pups. One of those died shortly thereafter, which leaves her with 2 pups.

Now my problem is this. Raichu has been with her mate Charziard, for almost 2 years. I can usually separate pairs when needed, but these two are stuck on each other. I tried splitting them up once and they each became very depressed. However, I feel that if she were to get pregnant again, she may not be so lucky with such a difficult labor. I put the male in another tank for now, but I know they are a very bonded pair and will miss each other terribly. I think their quality of life would be diminished without their life partner. On the other hand, I never want to see her suffer such an ordeal again.
