Hello list,

Few days ago I bought a girl for my lonely slate male. She was the only G. Agouti girl
between other few slates. She is not an adult yet (at least doesnt look to me), but
is.. big enough. He is 8 months old. I think she is 6-7; she is a little smaller and
her tail is noticeable thinner than his. A little portion from her tail is hairless.
I hope it will grow again, wont it?

Anyway, in the past I tried to introduce 2 different lonely males in a couple and I
failed. Well, maybe I didnt insist too much in making them like each other.

But in this case I used split cage method for only one day.
After one day I put the new girl together with my male to see how they behave
together. I know it was wrong to try to introduce them so soon, and there were very
few chances to succeed but I was counting on two things: they are still young and
different sexes. So, me and a friend of mine, stayed around the aquarium and guard
them not to fighting each other. I was wearing gloves so they wont bite me.

The new girl looked scared. He began to rush after her. She stopped in a corner while
she was whirling sweet :) They were staying nose-to-nose, motionless and when he
trying to smell her she put one of her front leg on his face to keep him at distance
:).
They started to have another activities than to examine each other. When he seems to
ignore her, she attempts to go at him and smell him. I saw that they dont fight and I
let him together overnight. In the morning they were snuggled together and everything
was ok. I couldnt believe my eyes that they accommodated so soon and started to like
each other! Im think that if they were older age and the same sex, that will not be
so easier.

She was a little shy at the beginning, but now she is squeaking at him every time she
wants something from him (food, a piece of carton) or if is intruded because he is
trying to smell her while she is resting:))

Does anybody have a pair of slate/black and agouti? Just wanted to know if the babies
will be some like her and some like him or a color between this two?

                                                Nicole, Eastern Europe :)
